Ministry of Caring

The Ministry of Caring (MOC) is a vibrant community of staff, volunteers, donors and diverse supporters united by a passion to serve the poor. Together, MOC gladly gives of themselves to fulfill the vision of its founder and executive director, Brother Ronald Giannone, OFM Cap., "the poor should never be treated poorly."

MOC lives this vision in myriad ways. Through the nutritious meals for the hungry at Emmanuel Dining Room. Through the cheerful rooms for residents of its shelters, transitional residences and long-term housing. Through the helping hands to the jobless. Through the child care and education for offspring of the poor and homeless. And through outreach services to anyone in need.

MOC listens unceasingly for new struggles of the poor and creative ways to address these struggles; seeking gaps in services for the poor and filling them. Presently, MOC is planning new housing opportunities for the working poor and an affordable long-term residence for people disabled by HIV/AIDS, Mother Teresa House.

MOC lives in hope for the day when it will have eradicated the shame of poverty in Wilmington. Then, MOC will have attained its ultimate aspiration, to go out of business.
